Summary of the Structure Function Session at Photon 2001

In recent years considerable progress has been made in several aspects of the investigation of the photon structure. A recent review of the status of this field of research can be found in. In this paper, the most important results presented at Ascona are briefly reviewed. Of course the material presented is intended only as an overview, and reflects my personal view. For further information of the important details of the investigations the reader is referred to the write-ups of the individual presentations elsewhere in these proceedings.
